About

Hello! My name is Riane, and I’m a senior journalism student at Emerson College.

I’m the news editor at my campus newspaper, The Berkeley Beacon, where I oversee the express and enterprise sections.

I hail from Miami, Florida (home to Pitbull, weird news and year-round sunshine) where I spent two years at community college before moving to Boston.

Y si hablo español, in case you were wondering. I’m a proud member of the National Association for Hispanic Journalists.

In the past few years, I’ve worked on an investigation for The Medill Justice Project and learned the ropes of daily audio reporting at my local NPR station. I also landed a spot at The New York Times Student Journalism Institute, where I got to work with reporters and editors of color from The New York Times.

Check out some of my work above, or follow me on Twitter. Any questions? Email me!
